Te Werve Rugby Club

Te Werve Rugby Union Football Club is the expat club of The Hague and is known as the Foreign Legion in the Dutch rugby world. Founded as a Shell team in 1953, the club has a long history of making expats feel at home in the Low Lands. We have around 20 nationalities represented in our club, and most of our members have been travelling (more or less willingly) around the globe, so there are always plenty of good story being told in the third half. Of course Dutch citizens are just as welcome as anybody else! All it takes to be part of Te Werve is the love of the game, an open mind and a good sense of humour.

Te Werve currently has two teams competing in the Dutch competition, our First team in the 2nd Division and our Second team in the 3rd Division. Season starts in September and usually ends in March-April.
This season, Te Werve is clustering with WRC (Westlandse Rugby Club), which means more players and excellent facilities. Home games are held on Sunday afternoons at the WRC grounds, located in the south of The Hague.

Training sessions are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 20.00h until 21.45h at the WRC grounds. The bar is open afterwards to avoid any risk of dehydration.

To prevent fitness levels from dropping during the summer, we have a range of off-season activities such as touch rugby, beach rugby or rugby league.

The club makes sure highly cultural events are organised throughout the year, such as rugby tours, trips to international fixtures, club parties, poker nights, post-game BBQs, gentlemen’s dinner, ladies’ day… And of course the more casual and usual piss-ups. On match days, you can usually find us at O’Caseys Irish pub, located on Noordeinde in The Hague centre.
We take the social aspect at Te Werve very seriously!
